The Vice President, Senior Litigation / Bankruptcy Counsel will provide strategic legal advice and leadership in managing complex litigation, bankruptcy proceedings, condemnation matters, and insurance claims. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in these areas, excellent leadership capabilities, and a proven track record of successful case management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide expert legal counsel on all matters related to litigation, bankruptcy, condemnation, and insurance.
Lead and manage a team of attorneys and support staff in handling complex legal issues and cases.
Develop and implement strategies for effective litigation management, including risk assessment, case strategy, and resolution.
Oversee bankruptcy proceedings, including creditor negotiations, bankruptcy court hearings, and plan confirmations.
Advise on condemnation matters, including eminent domain proceedings, property valuations, and compensation negotiations.
Manage insurance claims and disputes, working closely with insurance carriers, brokers, and adjusters.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management, to align legal strategies with business objectives.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Prepare and present reports to senior management and the board of directors on legal matters, risks, and strategies.
Stay current with developments in relevant legal fields and industry trends.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Active bar membership in good standing.
Minimum of 15 years of legal experience, with a focus on construction and real estate development.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High ethical standards and a commitment to integrity and professionalism.
Proven track record of successfully managing complex legal cases and proceedings.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Leadership and team management experience, with the ability to mentor and develop junior attorneys.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Strategic mindset with the ability to align legal strategies with business goals.
