ABOUT THE ADVOCACY TEAM
The Advocacy team helps clients to advance equity for marginalized communities by working with major national progressive organizations, foundations and non-profit institutions on some of the most high-profile issues of our time. From local to global campaigns, we help our clients advocate successfully for reproductive health, rights and justice; immigrant rights; climate change action; quality education; criminal-legal system issues; racial justice and much more. We approach every engagement with the goal of “winning the day” for our clients, bringing cross-platform solutions to advance our clients goals. Whether it’s executing powerful media relations strategies, launching digital thought leadership programs or developing creative campaigns to advance a specific policy issue—our team serves as trusted advisors to solve our nation’s most pressing challenges.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
BerlinRosen is seeking an Account Coordinator to join our Advocacy Team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference with impactful communications campaigns and mission-driven work. The Account Coordinator will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be willing to dive right into integrated communications - from earned media to digital outreach. This person will be a team player who will support client relations and execute our strategy to help our clients achieve their goals. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, a passion for news and a desire to learn about how to drive winning communications campaigns.
Role location: This role is based in our New York, N.Y. or Washington, D.C. office on a hybrid basis. The Advocacy team is in-office at least 2 days per week.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
As an Account Coordinator on our Advocacy team, you will…
- Contribute ideas, research, and writing support for strategic communications
- Write polished communications materials including media advisories, briefing documents, releases, statements, emails, social content and social calendars, strategic memos and outreach reports
- Proactively build on ideas uncovered in media and social accounts monitoring, creative brainstorming and client goals
- Conduct strategic and thorough media outreach to land stories for our clients
- Coordinate logistics for interviews, social media post timing, reporting, event details, etc.
- Build outreach lists as appropriate, from media lists to industry influencers
- Help manage workflow smoothly for your account teams—ensure the team’s work is moving in accordance with the work plan and meeting deadlines
- Build relationships with your clients and report back to them on our work
Essential skills:
- Internship or other relevant experience in public relations, public affairs, media relations, journalism, issue advocacy, political campaigns or a related field
- Has knowledge of the current media and digital landscape in order to have a strong sense of what’s newsworthy, an understanding of a wide range of news outlets and digital trends
- The ability to multi-task easily by handling multiple assignments at once, working quickly and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment while paying close attention to details
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Is technically fluent with tools such as Google Suite products, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
- Understands organizing and advocacy communications, including social media campaigning and local, state, or national politics

WORKING AT BERLINROSEN
Compensation philosophy: BerlinRosen offers competitive industry rate salary bands with the goal of retaining and growing talented individuals. We regularly review and adjust our compensation structure as needed to ensure equity across teams and levels.
The salary for this role is $62,400.
