Requirements
  • One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school
  • Skilled in accompanying and assisting persons experiencing emotional and/or spiritual distress due to trauma, crisis, or death
  • Ability to provide a non-anxious presence
  • Ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests
  • Functional knowledge of and respect for the religious values, beliefs, and practices of the major faith groups, individual denominational preferences, and all other spiritual groups and their beliefs and practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively with persons regardless of spiritual, cultural, ethnic background, sexual orientation, and gender identification
  • Highly motivated, dependable, organized, and able to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to organize and prioritize time and tasks to achieve a well-coordinated work effort and to effectively meet work schedules including an ability to integrate multiple factors which may have an impact on patient care
Responsibilities
  • Provide for the spiritual care of patients, family members and hospital staff as needed
  • Provide end of life and bereavement support
  • Respond in person to emergency pages /alerts: Code Blue; Trauma – priority 1; STEMI Alerts
  • Provide support to hospital staff
Desired Qualifications
  • A graduate-level theological degree from an accredited school of theology OR equivalent graduate-level degree that may be counted towards board certification
  • Eligible for certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, or National Association of Jewish Chaplains
  • One year of healthcare chaplaincy experience preferred
