Founded in 2021, Alice L. Walton School of Medicine (AWSOM) is a nonprofit, four-year MD program that will enhance traditional medical education with the arts, humanities, and whole health principles. The school’s culture embraces self-care to empower students to care for their own well-being as well as their patients’. The school’s state-of-the-art medical education facility is under construction in Bentonville, Arkansas on the Crystal Bridges campus, home to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and Heartland Whole Health Institute. The school has been granted preliminary accreditation status by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.
About The Position
The Business Intelligence Analyst plays a vital role in developing and supporting the AWSOM data strategy. As a business intelligence analyst, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on data from various sources and implement data solutions that support the strategic goals and objectives of AWSOM, including the implementation and ongoing support of a longitudinal data to monitor and analyze the lifecycle of a student to develop predictive models to support long-term success of the institution. This position requires regular on-site presence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the development of a longitudinal student data warehouse that aggregates data from multiple systems to monitor the student lifecycle including admissions, assessments and evaluations, graduation, and post-graduation.
- Conduct queries, locate data, and create appropriate reports to use for supporting evidence for institutional and programmatic accreditors.
- Identify patterns, trends, and outliers in student data to develop predictive models to inform long-term decision-making.
- Translate complex problems through narrative and visual displays for faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders.
- Investigate, recommend and implement institutional data solutions such as databases, data lakes, and data lakehouses.
- Create data visuals to report findings, tell compelling data stories, and suggest solutions.
- Develop and maintain automated dashboards that can be used for real-time monitoring of progress towards department-defined goals.
- Manage large data sets sourced from multiple departments utilizing a variety of data management methodologies to improve decision making and the streamlining of existing practices.
- Develop a deep understanding of the entire business data reporting process, from source data sets to end-result reporting and analysis tools.
- Assist in troubleshooting data-related issues and maintain the business intelligence infrastructure
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
- Proven track record of building and supporting data warehouses.
- Proficient in Snowflake, Power BI, and Acuity Analytics, or equivalent tools.
- Strong SQL skills and familiarity with other programming languages, such as Python or R. Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data security principles, relevant regulations and best practices.
- Ability to continually learn the latest trends and technologies in the field of data analysis and visualization, including ML/AI.

Physical Demands: In the work environment described, position requires sitting at a desk and utilizing a computer and a telephone for prolonged periods of time and good eye/hand coordination, bending and stretching, and physical stamina to lift and transport a minimum of 10 pounds. Work Environment: Work is performed full-time (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) in a professional, climate-controlled office environment with standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and telephones. This role requires working in an open setting near colleagues. The noise level is typically low to moderate. The role also requires interaction with both the public and internal team members in a professional and courteous manner. Some local travel will be required, and a flexible schedule may be necessary to accommodate business needs, including occasional evening and weekend work hours.
