Requirements
  • Grade 10 education and a Government of Alberta-approved Health Care Aide certificate.
  • Registration with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta.
  • Ability to work effectively in a physically and mentally demanding environment.
  • Ability to understand, speak, read, and write effectively in English.
  • Observation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Successful candidates must obtain a Criminal Background Check and provide proof of all mandatory immunizations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide care and support to residents, resident families, and volunteers within the designated scope of practice.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living while maintaining privacy and dignity.
  • Provide resident-centered care in accordance with resident care plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Document and report care and related observations to the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in a timely manner.
  • Monitor, observe, and document residents’ physical, psychological, spiritual, social, and emotional well-being in the health care record.
  • Adhere to resident, occupational health and safety, and emergency preparedness and response policies and procedures.
  • Participate with interdisciplinary team members in evaluating and changing residents’ documented care needs.
  • Work cooperatively with others as an effective team member.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous Health Care Aide experience is preferred but not required.
