Requirements
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Operations Research, Mathematics, Energy Systems, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • For the Consultant level, a Bachelor's degree plus 2 to 4+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 to 3+ years of relevant experience, is required.
  • For the Senior Consultant level, a Bachelor's degree plus 5 to 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 4 to 7+ years of relevant experience, is required.
  • Experience with analytical and problem-solving work is required.
  • Experience using Excel and quantitative analysis tools is required.
  • Experience with Python, R, SQL, or similar programming languages is required.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills are required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment is required.

Responsibilities
  • Perform quantitative, economic, and technical analyses of U.S. power markets using commercial market models, proprietary tools, and large datasets.
  • Develop long-term forecasts of energy, capacity, ancillary service, and renewable energy market outcomes.
  • Evaluate renewable energy, battery storage, conventional generation, transmission, and emerging energy investments.
  • Analyze market fundamentals including load growth, fuel prices, transmission congestion, generation retirements, policy changes, and new resource additions.
  • Support interconnection and transmission analyses, including assessments of queue activity, network upgrade costs, congestion impacts, and project economics.
  • Assist with asset valuations, project financing analyses, acquisition due diligence, and mergers and acquisitions support engagements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance proprietary forecasting methodologies, databases, and analytical tools.
  • Prepare client presentations, technical reports, and market insights that communicate complex findings to diverse audiences.
  • Support business development initiatives through market research, proposal preparation, conference participation, and thought leadership.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with power market simulation and forecasting tools such as PROMOD, PLEXOS, Aurora, PSLF, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of U.S. wholesale power markets, market design, transmission systems, resource adequacy, and generation economics.
  • Experience supporting renewable energy, battery storage, transmission, utility, or infrastructure investment projects.
  • Knowledge of asset valuation, project finance, mergers and acquisitions due diligence, or investment analysis.
  • Experience using Python, R, SQL, Power BI, or other advanced analytical tools.
  • Experience leveraging artificial intelligence, machine learning, generative artificial intelligence, and AI-enabled productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot to improve market analysis, research, forecasting, data processing, automation, and client deliverables.
  • Interest in emerging topics including energy transition, data center load growth, electrification, battery storage, transmission expansion, and grid modernization.
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to continuously learn about energy markets and emerging technologies.
