Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved American College of Radiology school.
  • Five years of experience in computed tomography.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification meeting American Heart Association guidelines within 30 days of hire.
  • Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in both radiography and computed tomography.
  • Active radiography accreditation with the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety.
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and computer/scanner capabilities.
  • Ability to identify pathology and provide accurate measurements and density readings to the radiologist.
  • Familiarity with pressure injectors, contrast material, and possible contrast reactions.
  • Proficiency in venipuncture.
  • Ability to use a keyboard and handle equipment and appliances with manual dexterity.
  • Ability to perform the physical duties of pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, lifting, twisting, working with arms above the head, and standing or walking for long periods.
  • Ability to wear a lead apron for long periods and assist patients to and from the CT unit.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
Responsibilities
  • Perform computed tomography scans using ionizing radiation to produce quality images under varied conditions.
  • Assist physicians in selecting practical applications and technical factors.
  • Produce quality CT scans and anticipate when additional imaging would be beneficial.
  • Operate a dry laser printer and prepare CT films for radiologist interpretation.
  • Obtain outside previous or comparison examinations.
  • Obtain complete patient histories and maintain a log of all patients.
  • Inform CT technologists of protocols and proposed protocol changes from radiologists.
  • Stay current on CT procedures.
  • Maintain contrast reaction boxes throughout the Radiology department.
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Complete required Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Springfield Clinic training and accomplishments.
  • Provide customer service in accordance with the Springfield Clinic customer service philosophy.
  • Perform other assigned job duties.
