Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent based on education and work experience is required.
  • Ability to accurately read and use gauges and tape measures and read and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to read and understand process sheets.
  • Basic shop mathematics, including fractions and measurements.
  • Knowledge of MIG and wire-feed welding practices.
  • Knowledge of setting up and operating weld machines, oxygen and acetylene torches, plasma machines, and robotic welders.
  • Knowledge of weld defect identification and repair.
  • Ability to successfully pass written and hands-on weld tests.
  • Ability to successfully pass pulmonary function tests.
  • Ability to work mandatory overtime and maintain regular, timely attendance.
Responsibilities
  • Perform MIG and wire-feed welding on sub-assemblies and final assemblies to support line production.
  • Operate the tools necessary for the job, including MIG and wire-feed welders, plasma cutters, oxygen and acetylene cutting torches, hand drills, hammers, needle guns, chisels, utility knives, putty scrapers, disk sanders, rivet guns, impact wrenches, huck guns, grinders, clamps, combination squares, automatic welders, and tape measures.
  • Weld in vertical, flat, vertical-lap, and overhead positions.
  • Set up parts and assemblies for welding.
  • Set machines for carbon steel and stainless steel of various gauges.
  • Place and move blocking, braces, and jigs to hold parts.
  • Hammer wedges and drift pins, turn turnbuckles, and pull pry bars to align parts.
  • Grind or chip rough edges, surplus weld, and scale.
  • Position and turn clamps and bolt straps or parts together.
  • Operate overhead cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices.
  • Perform measurement and quality checks and record findings.
  • Operate robotic welding equipment.
  • Perform assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and productively according to company policy.
  • Contribute to producing a quality product.
  • Attend scheduled work hours regularly and on time.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the company.
