Cypress Creek Renewables develops, finances, owns, and operates utility-scale solar and energy storage projects in the U.S. It works end-to-end—from site development and EPC to long-term asset management and O&M through Cypress Creek Solutions—financing via PPAs with utilities and corporate buyers, plus a growing O&M revenue stream. Since 2019 it has focused on owning and operating its developed assets as an independent power producer, expanding from solar to include battery storage and building a national control center; milestones include acquiring FLS Energy, reaching 1 GW installed, and EQT Infrastructure’s acquisition in 2021. Its goal is to deliver long-term value by growing a portfolio of clean energy assets that support reliable power, local economic benefits, and the energy transition.

Cypress Creek Renewables has announced a CEO transition, with Sarah Slusser departing after seven years and Kevin Smith appointed as her successor. During Slusser's tenure, the company transformed from a development-focused business into a leading independent power producer with over 3.4 GW of solar and storage assets operating or under construction. Slusser expanded Cypress Creek from its Southeastern base into 24 states, doubled its development pipeline and built an energy storage platform. She also oversaw the company's 2021 acquisition by EQT. Smith brings over 30 years of energy infrastructure experience across five continents. Most recently, he served as CEO of Arevon Energy, leading development of more than $5.6 billion in solar and battery storage projects whilst nearly doubling operating revenues.
Cypress Creek secures financing for Texas Solar plant to supply renewable energy to Meta. Mark Segal November 20, 2025 Renewables developer and independent power producer Cypress Creek announced that it has reached financial close and started construction on its Hanson Solar project in Coleman County, Texas. The launch of the new 505 MW renewable energy project follows a power purchase agreement (PPA) between Cypress Creek and Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp owner Meta earlier this year. The new facility will deliver electricity to the ERCOT grid under the PPA, with Meta purchasing environmental attributes to support its clean energy commitments. Meta has set a target to reach net-zero emissions across its value chain by 2030. The company achieved its goal to meet 100% of its operational energy needs with renewable sources in 2020, and recently said that it anticipates adding 9.8 GW of renewable energy to local grids in the U.S. by the end of 2025. Sarah Slusser, CEO of Cypress Creek Renewables, said: "Securing financing for Hanson Solar marks another important milestone as we expand our investment in Texas and continue partnering with customers like Meta. Projects like Hanson Solar go a long way to meeting the near-term need for reliable, affordable power that supports economic growth across the country." The financial close included a combination of preferred equity and debt financing, with debt facilities provided by MUFG and SMBC, and a preferred equity commitment provided by funds managed by a $350 billion AUM global credit asset manager. Takaki Sakai, Managing Director at MUFG Bank, said: "MUFG is pleased to provide debt financing for the Hanson Solar project, a significant step forward in expanding renewable energy capacity across Texas."
