Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.
  • Experience leading one or more supply chain functions, such as production scheduling, warehouse operations, shipping, receiving, procurement, or materials management.
  • Prior leadership experience managing teams within a manufacturing operation.
Responsibilities
  • Lead plant-level supply chain functions, including receiving, shipping, production scheduling, inventory management, and plant procurement.
  • Develop and execute supply chain strategies supporting safety, customer service, on-time delivery, cost, inventory, working capital, and operational performance objectives.
  • Build partnerships across plant and corporate functions to align daily execution with business needs.
  • Make data-driven decisions while responding to changing operational priorities.
  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing supply chain team through clear expectations, performance management, and measurable results.
  • Champion continuous improvement, operational excellence, accountability, collaboration, and team engagement.
  • Coordinate schedule changes resulting from demand fluctuations, equipment downtime, or raw material constraints.
  • Develop and maintain finite production schedules that maximize manufacturing efficiency, improve schedule attainment, and meet customer demand.
  • Balance labor, equipment capacity, inventory levels, raw material availability, and service requirements to optimize plant performance and support overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Execute plant-level procurement activities in partnership with Corporate Procurement.
  • Ensure timely availability of raw materials, packaging materials, and operating supplies to support production schedules.
  • Monitor supplier performance, raw material availability, and inventory levels to support production schedules and minimize service risks.
  • Manage inventory accuracy, inventory turns, and working capital while supporting targeted service levels.
  • Direct receiving operations to ensure accurate and timely receipt of materials.
  • Oversee warehousing and shipping operations to support warehouse productivity, shipping accuracy, customer delivery commitments, and transportation schedules.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through disciplined warehouse processes, inventory controls, and cycle counting.
  • Drive continuous improvement in warehouse efficiency, material flow, storage utilization, freight and logistics cost, and overall supply chain execution.
  • Partner with Corporate Procurement on sourcing strategies, supplier issues, and material availability.
  • Collaborate with Demand Planning to align production schedules with customer forecasts and demand changes.
  • Coordinate with Distribution and Logistics teams to optimize finished goods flow and transportation execution.
  • Work with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and Customer Service to resolve supply chain issues and improve overall business performance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that reduce cost, improve service, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies to eliminate waste throughout the supply chain.
  • Analyze key performance indicators, identify trends or gaps, and implement corrective actions to improve performance.
  • Support capital projects and new product introductions from a supply chain perspective.

  • Consumer packaged goods, food manufacturing, or high-volume manufacturing experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma experience.

J&J Snack Foods CEO targets $25M in savings as firm exits legacy ops, eyes FY27 growth

J&J Snack Foods reported a 6.2% drop in Q3 sales to $426 million, but gross profit rose by $1 million to $151 million whilst gross margin expanded 240 basis points to 35.5%. Chief executive officer Dan Fachner attributed the margin gains to Project Apollo, the company's efficiency initiative, now expected to generate $25 million in annualised savings. Planned bakery volume reductions are winding down in Q4 and should be largely complete entering fiscal 2027. The company will focus on core products including Dippin' Dots, ICEE, SuperPretzel and churros. Retail sales increased 1.7%, with Dogsters up more than 30%, Luigi's up over 20%, and Dippin' Dots retail sales exceeding 100% growth to nearly $4 million.
