Requirements
  • College or university enrollment is required to receive academic credit for the internship.
  • Junior or senior standing is required.
  • The candidate must be able to commute to the selected office for the duration of the internship.
  • The candidate must attend a week-long training program at the start of the internship.
  • The candidate must commit to a regular 16-hour weekly schedule, with proposed hours Monday through Thursday in the office and remote work on Fridays.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel in a Mac operating system environment is required.
  • Proficiency with Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides is required.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently in a hybrid environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
  • The candidate must identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Experience with Associated Press writing style is required.
  • Knowledge of social media and presentation skills are required.
  • Applicants must possess work authorization for the country in which they are applying without employer visa sponsorship.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with research on upcoming trends, articles, and social media related to the public relations industry and clients.
  • Assist with reporting and gathering information to develop efficient pitches.
  • Assist with writing press materials, including fact sheets, media lists, press releases, newsletters, biographies, and backgrounders.
  • Assist in brainstorming and planning sessions involving story angles and partnerships.
  • Assist with clipping for real-time coverage reports.
  • Assist with data input for weekly reporting and client updates.
  • Learn and demonstrate a basic understanding of Barcelona Principles scoring under team-member oversight.
  • Learn and navigate Muck Rack to develop quality media lists.
  • Assist with research on upcoming trends, articles, and social media related to the travel and hospitality industry and social media clients.
  • Learn and gain a basic understanding of Tagger by Sprout Social for influencer analysis.
  • Provide administrative assistance with media and influencer relations, including writing, research, and backgrounders.
  • Assist with Instagram story creation for assigned clients using Canva.
  • Research imagery requests, photo needs, content calendar requests, and influencer-relations information.
  • Research models and influencers for content shoots.
  • Assist with digital filing in content archives for each client.
  • Source user-generated content for mockups during community management.
  • Complete other tasks or projects assigned by the manager and account team members.
  • Learn time-management techniques.
  • Gain exposure to public relations and social media strategy.
  • Engage with industry leaders and company culture.
  • Collaborate and network with teams and professional individuals.
  • Build a portfolio and resume.
  • Develop communication skills for industry and internal emails.
