Requirements
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead staff and work with a diverse public.
  • Knowledge of retail operations, sales, community relations, and customer relations.
  • Knowledge of computer technology, including cash register and point-of-sale systems, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, social media, and email.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods and repeatedly bend, reach, and climb.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds consistently.
  • High school diploma or General Educational Development credential preferred.
  • Retail experience preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
  • Operate the store cash register and point-of-sale system, including ringing up purchases, collecting money, making change, and applying discounts.
  • Count the cash drawer at opening and closing to ensure money is accounted for.
  • Keep check stands clean and well organized with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Secure the facility, donations, and store merchandise by implementing loss-prevention and store-security measures.
  • Ensure unauthorized persons do not operate a cash register, keep passwords confidential, and alert management to suspicious activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of store operations and complete reports and information requested by management in a timely manner.
  • Promote selected items and special-sale merchandise, assist customers in locating and selecting merchandise, and provide general assistance.
  • Sort, pull, display, and arrange merchandise as instructed by store managers.
  • Answer phones professionally and present a positive public image for the organization.
  • Maintain store buildings and grounds in a clean, neat, and safe condition; report maintenance and repair needs; sweep, dust, and vacuum floors; clean restrooms; and wash walls and windows.
  • Adhere to company personnel policies and procedures and assist clerks and store personnel in understanding and following them.
  • Pursue professional development through continuing education and training opportunities.
  • Promote positive teamwork among coworkers.
  • Attend safety training and follow all safety procedures and protocols.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
