Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical piping design and construction
  • Proven experience with onsite inspections and quality control
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, standards, and best practices
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work with complex mechanical drawings and blueprints
  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for detecting anomalies and inconsistencies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing project needs
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and excellence in all aspects of the role
  • Familiarity with cryogenic systems design, installation, and maintenance is preferred
  • Previous experience working on projects at the Kennedy Space Center or similar high-profile facilities is preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus
Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inspections of all ongoing mechanical works, focusing on piping systems, ensuring they meet project specifications, standards, and codes
  • Ensure that installations are carried out as per approved drawings and specifications
  • Identify any non-conforming works, noting deficiencies, and ensuring timely rectification
  • Review and verify the quality of materials used in piping installations, ensuring they meet project requirements and standards
  • Collaborate with the project team to maintain and update inspection checklists and protocols
  • Provide technical input regarding piping systems, particularly in the design, fabrication, and testing phases
  • Act as the primary point of contact for contractors and subcontractors regarding the mechanical aspects of the project
  • Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, findings, corrective actions, and recommendations
  • Collaborate with the documentation team to ensure that all mechanical-related documentation is up-to-date and compliant
  • (For candidates with cryogenics experience) Oversee and inspect cryogenic systems installations, ensuring adherence to safety and performance standards
  • Offer expertise and advice on cryogenic systems design, installation, and maintenance
