Requirements
  • At least 10 years of experience in DevOps, site reliability engineering, or platform engineering, including leadership or technical lead experience.
  • Expertise in Amazon Web Services, including core networking, compute, storage, databases, and identity and access management.
  • Strong Terraform experience with modules, state management, versioning, code reviews, and policy as code such as Sentinel or Open Policy Agent.
  • Hands-on GitHub Actions experience with multi-environment workflows, reusable actions, environment protection rules, and artifact handling.
  • Proficiency in Linux, shell scripting, and at least one of Python, Go, or Node.js for tooling and automation.
  • Deep understanding of networking, security, and reliability, including virtual private clouds, subnets, routing, security groups and network access control lists, Transport Layer Security, Domain Name System, and autoscaling.
  • Experience with containers such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Amazon Elastic Container Service or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service.
  • A proven track record in monitoring and observability, incident response, and root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage artificial intelligence tools to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support data-informed task execution.
  • A solid understanding of artificial intelligence capabilities and limitations, including ethical considerations.
Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines using GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeBuild, and AWS CodeDeploy.
  • Provision and manage Amazon Web Services infrastructure using Terraform, including modules, workspaces, and remote state, and use CloudFormation where applicable.
  • Design scalable, secure, and cost-optimized architectures using AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, ALB/NLB, Route 53, and IAM.
  • Implement observability using Amazon CloudWatch, CloudWatch Logs, metrics and alarms, AWS X-Ray, and centralized logging patterns.
  • Enforce AWS security best practices, including least-privilege IAM, Secrets Manager or Parameter Store, KMS, encryption in transit and at rest, patching, and guardrails.
  • Automate deployments, scaling, backups, and maintenance using AWS Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, and SSM Automation.
  • Partner with engineering teams to integrate DevOps practices, improve build and test quality, and streamline release management.
  • Tune infrastructure for performance and cost using Auto Scaling, Graviton, instance sizing, reserved or savings plans, and caching through ElastiCache or CloudFront.
  • Design disaster recovery strategies and AWS Backup policies, cross-region replication, and recovery time and recovery point objectives for critical workloads.
  • Build and operate workloads on Amazon ECS or EKS, including cluster scaling, networking, and image lifecycle management through ECR.
  • Standardize environments using AWS Systems Manager, including Parameters and Patch Manager, and establish environment baselines.
  • Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and reliability engineering to reduce mean time to recovery and improve service-level agreements and service-level objectives.
  • Document architectures, Terraform modules, GitHub Actions workflows, runbooks, and operational playbooks.
  • Evaluate and adopt new AWS services and features, Terraform enhancements, and continuous integration and continuous delivery patterns to improve platform maturity.
  • Coach engineers, drive DevOps culture, set standards, and influence roadmap priorities across teams.
Desired Qualifications
  • Production experience with EKS and cluster add-ons including CoreDNS and kube-proxy, plus infrastructure as code for Kubernetes using Helm and ArgoCD.
  • Experience with policy as code, governance, and guardrails using AWS Organizations, service control policies, AWS Config, and Control Tower.
  • Experience with cost management using Cost Explorer, Budgets, anomaly detection, and chargeback or showback.
  • Experience with zero-downtime deployments and blue/green, canary, and progressive delivery strategies.
  • Experience with service mesh technologies such as AWS App Mesh or Istio and feature flags.
  • Experience with multi-account and multi-region architecture and landing zone patterns.
  • Experience with serverless technologies including Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB, and event-driven systems.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence-enhanced platforms.
