Role Description
The quality role is an integral part of Form Energy and will ensure that all products meet customer and company requirements. Specifically, the Associate Quality Manager is responsible for developing quality processes and methodologies, including quality/control plans and validating products to meet their design specifications.
Responsibilities of this role also include driving continual product and process improvements. You will work with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Suppliers and Operations to address and improve quality/reliability and manufacturability issues. Work will require leading and participating in cross-functional teams.
This is a very hands-on, management role with duties centered around building and leading a small team focused on specifying and managing advanced metrology equipment, developing test methods, and implementing sample measurement, test, and inspection aspects of product control plans. To be effective, you will need to be intimately familiar with the technical requirements and functionality of chemical-electro-mechanical assemblies and the tools, and equipment used in their development and manufacturing.
This opportunity is based out of Form Energy’s Weirton, WV facility. Relocation assistance is available.
What You’ll Do:
Work closely with Design/Manufacturing Engineering and Suppliers to establish systems, processes to ensure high-performing and quality products
Support measurement and inspection for product quality and control plans
Analyze and publish measurement results for cross-functional team members
Establish and report metrology performance metrics
Work with Design/Manufacturing Engineering to determine appropriate measurement methods
Assist in the identification and resolution of manufacturing quality issues
Participate in continuous improvement activities with Design/Manufacturing Engineering and external Suppliers
Work with Supplier Quality Engineering and Suppliers to develop inspection standards
Take part in ongoing product optimizations in both cost and technology innovations
Provide design for manufacturability feedback to engineering teams, and participate in DFM and drawing reviews
Effectively utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) as well as critical thinking to efficiently problem solve
Specify, maintain, and operate measurement and test equipment for physical characteristics such as TGA, DSC, tensile strength, Gurley permeability, tapped density, etc.
Organize and plan inspection activities to maximize measurement equipment utilization
Support internal and external calibration activities
What you’ll bring:
5 to 10 years of quality systems experience in a manufacturing environment
Experienced in ISO9001, ISO/TS 16949, APQP, PPAP, SPC, CAD
Strong aptitude with electronic test and measurements systems
Advanced understanding of measurement system analysis, sampling plans, hypothesis testing and calibration
Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams
Structured problem-solving (8D) and analytical skills, including strong technical skills in statistical tools, Design of Experiments (DOE), Process Capability (Cpk, Ppk), etc.
Ability to work well in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while remaining detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
Ability to manage, synthesize, and interpret data
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar fields is a plus
