Goldman, Morgan Stanley Eye Northern Trust

JPMorgan suggests that BNY Mellon could benefit strategically from acquiring Northern Trust, enhancing its wealth and asset management businesses. The news leak might be an attempt to attract other bids. Potential interested parties include Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and possibly Royal Bank of Canada. A bidding war leading to a high price may not be well-received by the market. Northern Trust could provide stable cash flow and wealth management opportunities for these firms.
