Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technologist program is required.
  • Radiologic Technologist certification and a Fluoroscopy Permit are required.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • The position requires prolonged standing, especially at the sterile field.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds of equipment, trays, or patients is required.
  • Manual dexterity, hearing, and near vision are required.
  • The role involves potential exposure to blood, body fluids, chemicals, and equipment hazards.
  • The employee must test and monitor radiology equipment for proper function and follow federal and state regulations, manufacturer guidelines, infection control requirements, and OSHA guidelines, including personal protective equipment use.
Responsibilities
  • Assemble supplies and positioning aids according to physician preference cards.
  • Perform x-ray procedures in operating and special procedure rooms as a member of the surgical team.
  • Process images and ensure proper equipment calibration.
  • Prepare supplies and equipment for cases and contribute to preparation for the following day’s cases.
  • Ensure all personnel are shielded before activating x-ray equipment.
  • Maintain aseptic technique during procedures.
  • Remain available during procedures to provide timely support.
  • Document radiation exposure in patient records.
  • Assist with inventory control and suite turnover and cleaning.
  • Provide support to staff, physicians, and visitors.
  • Serve as a resource to other staff members.
  • Participate in staff education, quality improvement activities, and staff meetings.
  • Maintain required certifications and assist in emergencies.
  • Support new employee and student orientation and training.
  • Work independently and prioritize tasks effectively in surgical settings.
