Requirements
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with residents and staff.
  • Ability to lift, pull, push, and carry 40 pounds and move quickly through the community to provide emergency assistance.
  • Ability to maintain a safe environment for residents and coworkers and transport residents and equipment as appropriate.
  • High school diploma or equivalent educational experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, tuberculosis test, and physical.
Responsibilities
  • Provide basic personal assistance to residents under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
  • Provide companionship, build rapport, and establish trusting relationships with residents.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including ambulation, transferring, showering, personal hygiene, incontinence care, feeding, reminders, and supervision.
  • Gather residents for activities and conduct group or one-on-one activities as requested.
  • Conduct daily tasks safely and follow all safety procedures.
  • Serve resident meals and complete after-meal cleanup.
  • Keep resident rooms clean and tidy and complete resident laundry as assigned.
  • Observe residents and report concerns such as skin breakdown, rashes, behavioral changes, speech changes, or changes in appearance to the Wellness Director.
  • Follow safety regulations covering fire protection, infection control, bloodborne pathogens, hazardous waste, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Communicate with family members, visitors, and volunteers in a customer-service-oriented manner.
  • Report changes in residents’ psychosocial or physical conditions and skin breakdown to the Wellness Director.
  • Report complaints, grievances, and instances of abuse to the Wellness Director or Executive Director.
  • Answer emergency response system calls immediately.
  • Provide post-mortem care as instructed.
  • Complete required documentation and paperwork.
  • Participate in Wellness meetings and mandatory training to comply with regulations and policies.
  • Perform assigned tasks according to policies, procedures, and instructions from the Wellness Director and leadership team.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with seniors.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
  • Previous experience in assisted living or memory care.
