PATH is seeking candidates passionate about helping others make a positive change in their lives to join our Accounts Payable as the Client Assistance Coordinator at the RHC Office.
ABOUT PATH
Since its foundation in 1984, PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) has pioneered bold and effective approaches to assist people experiencing homelessness. PATH operates services throughout California, connecting our clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention, street outreach, employment preparation and placement assistance, individualized case management, supportive services, interim housing, and permanent supportive housing.
ABOUT THE JOB
As part of the Accounts Payable, the Client Assistance Coordinator is responsible for reviewing and processing client assistance payables accurately and timely with only moderate supervision. This position must have a minimum of one year’s experience mastering a complex nonprofit accounting chart of accounts and client assistance processing (both payment processing and compliance analysis) for a large portfolio of homeless services awards. This position will be processing hundreds of requests a month for multiple grants and which can total over $1M a month in client assistance. The Coordinator must be comfortable working in a demanding job requiring a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in a very fast paced environment.
Position Responsibilities:
- Gain understanding of how PATH’s programs work in order to process client assistance with minimal supervision and identify potential problems and solutions for presentation to the Specialist or Associate Director.
- Process client assistance, also known as temporary financial assistance (TFA), requests for payment
- Reviewing all TFA paperwork received from program personnel via the File bound system for accuracy, completeness, and program compliance
- Investigating and resolving all issues identified on the TFA paperwork.
- Processing all requests accurately and in a timely manner.
- Entering TFA transaction data into the Intacct accounting system and printing TFA checks.
- Sending daily TFA check log to PATH authorized check signers for signing and approval to release checks.
- Understanding the specific TFA requirements for each of the TFA grants and ensuring that requests are in compliance.
- Maintaining strong internal controls around TFA to identify and prevent fraudulent requests.
- Providing a high-quality customer service environment while working with program personnel.
- Maintaining complete, up-to-date, and audit-ready files and other documentation for all TFA requests in accordance with Federal, State, County, and PATH guidelines
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- One (1) year experience processing client assistance in a complex, non-profit, multi-grant environment
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Regardless of qualifications, candidates must:
- Have employment eligibility verification
- Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training
- Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire:
- Tuberculosis Test
- Background Screening
- Drug Test
DRIVING
Driving is an essential function of this position. To meet the employment requirements for this role, all candidates must:
- Have reliable transportation
- A valid driver’s license
- Proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used during work duties
- The ability to qualify for PATH’s insurance coverage
