- Juris Doctor (JD) degree (or foreign equivalent) from a well-regarded law school
- Admitted to practice law in the United States with good standing
- Minimum of 6 years of legal experience, preferably in fintech industry
- Experience with eCommerce, financial technologies and payments industry
- In-house experience, ideally at a fast paced, scaling startup
- Experience with or willingness to learn commercial contract negotiations and law, corporate governance, e-commerce legal considerations, security and privacy law, and payments/fintech law
- Ability to reliably source data/information, interpret information and provide context, and effectively weigh considerations in the best interest of Bolt and its customers
- Demonstrate expertise in privacy and data protection issues, with a strong understanding of global privacy laws, including the CCPA and the GDPR
- Possess broad experience with product counseling, extending beyond privacy and data protection issues
- Thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, managing ambiguity and multiple projects simultaneously
- Have a startup mindset, take ownership, and strike a proper balance of quality and a sense of urgency
- Be a collaborative team player with no ego, yet capable of working independently
- Product Expert: Roll up your sleeves to learn the technical details of our products and services inside and out. You will serve as the legal expert on product development, regulatory compliance, and strategy.
- Product Development Support: Collaborate with product teams to integrate legal and regulatory requirements into the design and development of fintech products. This includes advising on product structure, user agreements, and data usage to mitigate legal risks while supporting innovation.
- Product & Privacy Counseling: Provide practical, solution-focused advice to Engineering and Product teams through the product life cycle in all areas of the law that touch on product development such as privacy and intellectual property. Identify potential privacy and information security risks and provide practical risk-mitigation solutions.
- Transactional Support: Structure and negotiate a wide range of commercial and partnership agreements, including master service agreements, supplier agreements, data licensing and other arrangements. Serve as the subject matter expert and point of escalation for complex privacy issues in commercial transactions and keep them apprised of key privacy and product legal updates relevant to Bolt’s customers and partners.
- Documentation & Training: Develop privacy and data protection documentation, policies, procedures, and training programs.
