We are seeking an IT Help Desk Engineer for our Syracuse, NY location. This role will provide hands-on support of the users of JMA’s IT infrastructure to ensure all software and hardware platforms are functioning properly to allow the user base to use the systems to their fullest potential. This position will also support data backup systems, data center infrastructure, security tools, and network infrastructure across all sites.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point-of-contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone, email or in person.
- Perform troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions.
- Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by end-users.
- Walk the customer through the problem-solving process.
- Collaborate with network engineers and security team on complex issues.
- Define, document, and enforce system standards.
- Complete project work, on-time, on-budget and within spec.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems/Information Technology or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience working with the following technologies: Cisco, Avaya, VMware, Microsoft, Servers, Back-up Technologies
- Microsoft 365 or Azure certifications highly desired
- Prior information technology or system administration experience preferred.
- Familiarity with PC hardware, office environment or point-of-sale experience a plus
- Solid understanding of networking protocols, platforms, and hardware technologies
- Strong knowledge and aptitude on Microsoft suite of applications and associated technologies
- High energy, team first mindset with a learner’s aptitude
- Attention to detail, demonstrates an ability to document, follow, and enforce standards across our IT platforms.
