Requirements
  • A Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering, with a minimum of 8 years of work experience for a master's degree or 5 years for a doctorate.
  • Demonstrated successful completion of ready-for-production MEMS and/or microfluidic devices.
  • Expertise and rigor in statistical analysis, design of experiments, and associated relevant tools.
  • Ability to interface with electrical, mechanical, chemical, and biomedical engineers in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects and communicate ideas clearly to the organization.
  • A fundamental understanding of sensor transduction and product-system-level optimization.
Responsibilities
  • Design microneedle and other devices for novel biochemical sensors.
  • Work with third-party manufacturing partners and internal supply chain teams to ensure high-volume, cost-effective, capable, and stable processes through experimentation and statistical analysis.
  • Develop in-house tests and work with third parties to develop tests used to characterize and verify or validate products.
  • Develop in silico models for biosensor devices.
  • Work with technical team members to ensure product requirements are met through formal verification.
  • Participate in failure analysis and tiger-team activities.
  • Champion and serve as a trusted educator and resource for MEMS-related topics within the organization.
  • Generate relevant intellectual property for the company.
  • Work with technical team members to accelerate progress and generate high-quality products.

  • Experience with finite element method modeling tools such as Ansys and COMSOL.
  • Experience with mechanical design tools such as SolidWorks.
  • Experience with layout tools such as L-Edit.
  • Experience developing Python or other software for testing, modeling, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience commercializing products for highly regulated markets such as medical, automotive, or aerospace.
  • Experience with physical and chemical analysis techniques.

Biolinq develops a biowearable platform with tiny under-skin sensors that monitor metabolic health, including glucose, by sensing multiple analytes. The sensors continuously collect data below the skin and transmit to an app or clinician for insights and personalized medicine. It differentiates by being a small, under-skin, multi-analyte system backed by university bioengineering research, not external wearables or single markers. Its goal is to gain regulatory approval and bring scalable, continuous metabolic health monitoring to patients.

Biolinq CEO predicts smart patches will dominate wearables after $100M Series C

Smart patches could become the next major wearables category after smartwatches and rings, according to Richard Yang, CEO of diabetes biosensor company Biolinq. Unlike watches that track digital biomarkers, smart patches monitor biomarkers linked to the body's internal chemistry. Biolinq raised $100 million in a Series C round in April 2025, bringing total funding to around $300 million. The company secured FDA de novo classification for its Shine biosensor in September 2025, making it the first needle-free continuous glucose monitoring device in the US market. The device uses microneedle arrays that only penetrate the skin's top layer. Yang says the consumer health domain is "hungry" for such technology. Biolinq plans to expand beyond diabetes monitoring, with future applications potentially tracking multiple health metrics simultaneously through semiconductor-based biosensor chips.
