Requirements
  • One year of teller or cash handling experience and six months of customer relationship building or sales experience are required.

Responsibilities
  • Serve customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to bank service standards.
  • Learn and explain the bank’s products and services, including features, benefits, rules, regulations, pricing, and service definitions.
  • Identify customer needs and expectations by listening for clues and seek opportunities to expand customer relationships through referrals.
  • Maintain a neat and professional personal appearance in accordance with bank policy.
  • Ensure compliance with banking regulations, including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Develop an understanding of customer-facing technology and discuss and enroll customers in self-service options.
  • Process transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Guide and train new tellers when assigned.
  • Allow customers access to safe deposit boxes when assigned.
  • Cash checks and process savings withdrawals within assigned limits and prescribed procedures.
  • Sell certified checks.
  • Balance transactions daily.
  • Service and balance automated teller machines when assigned.
  • Use the branch capture system when assigned.
  • Follow policies and procedures to complete transactions, minimize operational errors, and maintain proper workflow.
  • Follow branch security and audit procedures and understand the operation of security devices.
  • Open new deposit accounts and understand the bank’s products and financial services.
  • Handle stop payments, wire transfers, and other account-maintenance functions within assigned limits.
  • Explain policies and procedures to customers as necessary.
  • Resolve customer problems and complaints courteously and discreetly, directing difficult problems to appropriate sources.
  • Promote additional services when resolving customer problems and complaints.
  • Maintain knowledge of the bank’s financial services.
  • Show appreciation for each customer’s time and business and provide a business card when appropriate.
  • Ensure branch records, reports, and correspondence from customer-development efforts are correct, timely, and properly distributed.
  • Assume vault or backup vault responsibilities when assigned.
  • Float to different offices in the area to accommodate staffing needs.
  • Complete assigned regulatory compliance training and acknowledge assigned policies through DocuSign.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SouthState Bank launches government contractor banking vertical, hires former MartinFed CEO

SouthState Bank has launched a Government Contractor Banking vertical and appointed David Mathis as director to lead the initiative. Mathis brings nearly a decade of experience from MartinFederal Consulting, where he served as CEO before successfully selling the company this year. He also has 25 years of commercial banking experience focused on the government contracting industry. The new vertical will support companies working with federal agencies across SouthState's nine-state footprint, offering services including financing, treasury management, capital markets and mergers and acquisitions advice. SouthState president Richard Murray noted the bank's presence in regions with military bases and operations supporting NASA, the Department of Justice and the Department of Energy.

SouthState Bank raises dividend 10%, reports $230M Q2 net income with 11% loan growth

SouthState Bank Corporation reported second quarter 2026 results with net income of $230 million and diluted earnings per share of $2.35, up 11% year over year. The bank's chief executive officer, John C. Corbett, highlighted solid loan growth, stable net interest margin, and improved asset quality. Loans increased by $1.4 billion, or 11% annualised, compared to the prior quarter, whilst deposits grew by $474 million, or 3% annualised. Net interest income reached $576 million, up $14 million from the previous quarter. Net charge-offs totalled $8 million, or 0.06% of average loans. The board of directors increased the quarterly cash dividend from $0.60 to $0.66 per share, payable on 14 August 2026. Tangible book value per share rose to $58.72, representing a 13% year-over-year increase.

UMB Financial tops regional banks in Q1 as SouthState misses revenue estimates
