Requirements
  • Active certification in the relevant discipline from a recognized institution or board.
  • CPR/First Aid certification if applicable to physical wellness modalities.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA, patient privacy, and telehealth practices.
  • Understanding of Complementary and Integrative Health principles.
  • A minimum of 1–2 years of experience in virtual facilitation or equivalent in-person delivery.
  • Strong technical proficiency using digital wellness platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and custom VA platforms.
  • Relevant field training or workshops in veteran-centric care, trauma-informed delivery, or Complementary and Integrative Health practices.
  • Health & Wellness Coach Certification through an NBHWC-approved program.
  • Certified Telebehavioral Health Professional certification from the Telehealth Certification Institute is optional for expanded delivery.
  • HIPAA Training Certificate is required.
  • Ability to modify sessions for mobility levels, mental health, or chronic illness.
  • Digital fluency for operating streaming, webinar, or virtual classroom platforms.
  • Ability to manage groups and attend to verbal and non-verbal cues in a virtual setting.
  • Ability to manage time consistently for scheduling and reporting.
  • Veteran-centered care orientation.
  • Health literacy and patient empowerment.
  • Ability to use basic troubleshooting and access to stable internet and devices.
  • Ability to follow HIPAA, Section 508 Accessibility, and VA virtual health policy guidelines.
  • Ability to use encrypted communication and follow VA data handling practices.
  • Certifications must be submitted prior to onboarding and renewed annually or as required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word; Adobe Acrobat, data analytics tools, and Visio are also identified as relevant business tools.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate virtual and recorded sessions via a secure platform.
  • Deliver engaging, evidence-based wellness experiences aligned with VHA Directive 1137 and the Whole Health Initiative.
  • Customize sessions for populations with special needs, including elderly participants and veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder or mobility impairments.
  • Maintain cultural sensitivity to veteran populations.
  • Ensure confidentiality, professionalism, and a supportive online environment.
  • Track attendance where needed and contribute feedback for performance improvement.
  • Collaborate with VISN 5 stakeholders on custom wellness programming, including events and staff days.
  • Support VHA goals for improved well-being, stress reduction, and burnout mitigation.
  • Support ongoing wellness conversations focused on mental resilience and wellness coaching.
  • Coordinate with VA clinical teams where appropriate for holistic service integration.
  • Provide live and on-demand wellness content for veterans and staff.
  • Accommodate regular, special-event, and ad hoc sessions through flexible scheduling.
  • Contribute to monthly usage and impact reports by submitting relevant participation metrics.
  • Attend quarterly virtual check-ins with project managers or VISN 5 coordinators.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with veteran populations or government/VA services is highly preferred.
  • Minimum availability of 5–10 hours per week, with ability to scale during peak demand, is preferred.
