Requirements
  • The candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in new or used truck sales, including previous experience in a supervisory role.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of service support.
  • The candidate should have general knowledge of medium-duty trucks, preferably Isuzu, Hino, and Mack.
  • The candidate must have strong people-management and leadership skills and the ability to develop employees at all levels.
  • The candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • The candidate must have intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer programs, including dealer management systems and customer relationship management systems.
  • The candidate must have sound business acumen and the ability to analyze, prioritize, identify, and execute solutions.
  • The candidate must be able to maintain composure and exercise sound judgment at all times.
  • The candidate must be able to travel to other TEC locations and visit customers.
Responsibilities
  • Take full accountability for the profitability, risk management, and growth of the Medium Duty Sales department.
  • Build relationships and maintain communication with current and potential customers, travel to customer locations approximately 50% of the time, anticipate customer needs, and introduce customers to other departments or available services.
  • Build an effective partnership and maintain communication with Mack contacts to ensure understanding of Mack and TEC Equipment processes and facilitate timely, continuous results.
  • Maintain communication and relationships with internal business partners to maximize dealer profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate marketing plans and ensure TEC Medium Truck Sales is positioned at the forefront.
  • Align department activities with the TEC value proposition and ensure employees and customers understand the company values and customer commitment.
  • Lead and role-model the team by conducting oneself according to high ethical and professional standards and modeling TEC core values.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and friendly competition by exemplifying TEC Equipment’s vision, mission, and values and positioning the value proposition with customers.
  • Develop a clear understanding of the relationship between the TEC Way and the bottom line.
  • Perform every role within the department when needed.
  • Analyze financial, payroll, and inventory reports weekly and management information system reports monthly; identify and act on trends and opportunities.
  • Lead business planning for the department and complete monthly bridge schedules.
  • Escalate needs to the General Manager, Regional Manager, or corporate team when appropriate.
  • Set visible departmental objectives and priorities, monitor progress with the team, and ensure employees understand how success will be measured.
  • Create and maintain accountability systems to measure team-member performance against targets.
  • Set daily, weekly, and monthly targets for team members, including credit applications, cold calls, market growth, and sales growth.
  • Hire and develop the Medium Duty Sales team while managing appropriate staffing levels.
  • Ensure employees understand their roles, responsibilities, and performance measures.
  • Support employees through ongoing training, sales meetings, regular productive interaction, corrective action, praise, motivation, and feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment regulations.
  • Promote from within when appropriate, encourage employee referrals, and remain aware of talent in the community.
  • Attend training, departmental meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
  • Stay current on company changes, industry trends, product updates, and technological advances.
  • Prioritize professional development to increase business acumen and organizational development knowledge.
  • Determine team-member motivations, strengths, and weaknesses and empower team members to become entrepreneurs within their roles.
