Requirements
  • Must be a high school student in grades 11 or 12 and at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be authorized and approved by the Wisconsin Youth Apprentice Program in accordance with local school criteria.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must be progressing satisfactorily toward graduation.
  • Must commit to completing 450 hours at the jobsite (10-15 hours per week).
  • Demonstrated maturity and responsibility.
  • Skill with attending to details, excellent attendance, and a strong work ethic.
  • Foster a culture of caring through interpersonal relationships and communication.
Responsibilities
  • Accept prescription orders.
  • Performs calculations for medication orders.
  • Prepares supplies and instruments; maintains inventory.
  • Assists in preparing patient medications under the supervision of qualified staff.
  • Participates in quality assurance practices.
  • Maintains pharmacy records and other documents.
  • Implements error prevention and safety strategies to improve safety and accuracy of prescription preparation and delivery.
  • Places medication and supply orders.
  • Assists in the preparation of nonsterile compounds under the supervision of qualified staff.
  • Respects patient confidentiality and maintains Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act compliance.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Prepares medications under the direction of a pharmacist; Measures, mixes, counts out, labels, and records amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders.
