Requirements
  • Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate.
  • Must possess or be enrolled in a Food Service Worker Training Program.
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand or walk for the majority of the shift.
  • Must work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults and provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check, including a Criminal Background Check, or be willing to obtain one.
  • Must follow health and safety legislation, safe job procedures, provincial regulations, and departmental policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist with setting up and preparing beverages, salads, desserts, and other items for service.
  • Set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required.
  • Assist with cleaning dishware and cutlery at the conclusion of each seating.
  • Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining area.
  • Assist with catering and participate in special occasions and theme events.
  • Assist with the orientation and training of new dietary employees.
  • Respect and promote Resident Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Attend in-service training and staff meetings as required.
  • Participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Uphold and promote the organization's values, philosophy, ethics, morality, integrity, and Code of Conduct.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in the food service industry and working with seniors is preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
