Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and three years of experience in fundraising or related field OR an equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training.
Responsibilities
  • Leads and supervises a cross-department administrative team, including performance management and oversight of temporary staff, consultants, and interns.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains department-wide standard operating procedures for grant oversight, recordkeeping, and gift processing.
  • Manages a discrete fundraising portfolio, including development and execution of fundraising strategies for specific Carter Center programs and special projects.
  • Collaborates with Sr. Associate Directors (Health and Peace) and team members to implement and track fundraising strategies, adjusting approaches as needed to meet goals.
  • Researches donor prospects and prepares written solicitations, proposals, and correspondence for governments, foundations, corporations, and individuals.
  • Drafts fundraising strategy papers and briefing memoranda for the Director and executive staff; identifies and facilitates donor meeting opportunities at the local, national, and international levels.
  • Monitors and manages grant reporting for portfolio projects in collaboration with Programs Development staff, ensuring timely donor submissions; provides grant management support for other projects as needed.
  • Ensures accurate donor recordkeeping across electronic files, and maintains working knowledge of donor database for data-driven decision-making.
  • Supports donor recognition efforts in collaboration with the Communications Department, including articles, press releases, social media, and public events; ensures compliance with donor branding requirements.
  • Partners with development colleagues and Health, Peace, and Education Programs staff to organize meetings and events; identifies related fundraising opportunities.
  • Prepares narrative and data reports and presentations as requested.
  • Maintains current knowledge of fundraising trends through ongoing professional development.
  • Ensures compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Proven experience in managing successful fundraising/development operations, including data management, events management, and office administration.
  • Substantial writing proficiency, e.g., proposal writing, narrative reports to donors, fund-raising publications, newsletters, as well as external and internal correspondence, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Raiser’s Edge experience.
  • Experience in fundraising and grants management for international programs is desirable.
  • International development program experience.
