Job Summary:
The Facilities Engineer is responsible for the design review and implementation of all construction projects, process engineering, and life-cycle cost analysis. This role provides engineering support for maintenance and calibration management programs. The Engineer trouble-shoots operations of the plant and facilities equipment. This role develops, establishes, and maintains quality-engineering methods, systems, and practices which meet internal and regulatory requirements, and provide focused quality engineering support for the Facilities department on new construction, facility upgrades/retrofits/modernizations, and facilities equipment.

Location: Newark, CA (100% onsite)
Salary Range: $102,465 - $140,921
Responsibilities/Essential Duties:
- Perform design review, value engineering, and construction management for projects.
- Perform in-house design and manage facilities engineering and construction projects.
- Manage the installation and repair of infrastructure of manufacturing and office buildings.
- Support the installation, maintenance, operation and adjustments made to the HVAC equipment, i.e. pumps, boilers, air handling units, air compressors, cooling towers, and chillers.
- Track, trend and analyze utility data.
- Support negotiations and management of technical facility maintenance contracts.
- Support management and oversight of scheduled preventative maintenance on a wide variety HVAC and electrical equipment.
- Cross-train in-house staff on facilities operations & maintenance.
- Perform related duties of a similar nature and complexity as required.
- Act as technical guidance for identifying and resolving quality issues.
- Identify and implement effective commissioning and validation, and support the development, qualification, and on-going quality support of facilities to meet or exceed internal and external requirements.
- Act as an effective team member in supporting quality disciplines, decisions, and practices.
- Apply sound, systematic problem-solving methodologies in identifying, prioritizing, communicating, and resolving quality issues.
- Assure the development and execution of streamlined quality systems for the team, which effectively identify and resolve quality issues.
Basic Qualifications:
- Master’s degree & 2 years’ directly related experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree & 4 years’ directly related experience; OR
- Associate’s degree & 8 years’ directly related experience
- High school diploma or GED & 12 years’ directly related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional License Certification in HVAC, OSHA Safety, ISO9001, and/or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE).
- HVAC and clean utilities design or installation experience required to occasionally wear personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection equipment.
- Working knowledge of biological processes, equipment, and facilities.
- Experience with potent compounds or CDC Select Agent and Toxin regulations.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a GMP regulated environment.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Familiar with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Specialized manufacturing equipment experience: lyophilizer, autoclave, smart filler, water systems, and plant steam boiler.
