What you’ll do
In this critical role on the AlixPartners’ Information Technology team, you will be responsible for developing and managing AlixPartners’ disaster recovery plan, ensuring the resiliency and continuity of datacenter operations. This role involves collaborating with Corporate Services and Client Services leadership, conducting risk assessments, business impact analysis and ensuring operational integrity during and after disruptive events. Responsibility for development of documentation and test plans and conducting scheduled exercises to validate existing plans. Provide continuous improvement and evaluation of existing plans and work with key stakeholders to improve incident response to meet the needs of the business.
The IT Infrastructure Disaster Recovery Lead Engineer is a full-time role located in Southfield, MI and reports to the Infrastructure Operations Director. Paid relocation is not available for this position.
- Develop and design Disaster Recovery Strategy in alignment with business impact analysis.
- Propose and evaluate strategic Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BC) solutions to IT Architecture and IT Senior Leadership.
- As the firm IT expert in Disaster Recovery, provide advice and guidance on complex projects and systems, ensuring alignment with established strategies and architectural standards.
- Implement DR and BC strategies, establish policies, and coordinate recovery planning.
- Create, maintain, and test DR and BC plans, ensuring they are current and comprehensive.
- Lead response efforts during actual disasters and business disruptions, coordinating recovery and communication.
- Cross train team members to assist with DR and BC plan.
- Collaborate with business units, application teams, infrastructure areas, and vendors to identify and implement disaster recovery solutions.
- Map requirements into standard service solutions and evaluate cost, value, feasibility, and risks.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify threats and develop mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for audits, internal review and reporting.
- Participate in the development and advancement of junior team members, offering guidance and support.

What you’ll need
- Minimum five (5) years IT experience in an Enterprise environment.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience specifically in disaster recovery or business continuity planning.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience with the VMware Enterprise suite and related technologies.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience supporting a complex Windows Active Directory forest.
- Experience with Enterprise Storage Arrays; fiber channel networking a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to quickly research new platforms and issues.
- Desire to assist with the development and advancement of junior team members, offering guidance and support.
- Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in a 24x7x365 service delivery model supporting mission-critical business operations, preferably in a global organization.
- Ability to travel (local and international) for initiatives on a volunteer basis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with ability to explain processes and policies effectively.
- Core working hours are generally 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday; willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and as unique projects/needs arise.
- Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday.
