  • A High School Diploma or General Educational Development credential is required.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical operations.
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance on facility systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, plumbing, refrigeration, and electrical systems.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work overtime and varied shifts, including evenings and weekends, as required to maintain the facility and support facility projects.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic hand tools and power tools, including drills, grinders, and saws.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, enterprise resource planning, and computerized maintenance management system software.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to work in variable environmental conditions, including hot, cold, wet, dusty, and smoky conditions.
  • Understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines and regulations.
  • Understanding of Food Safety and Quality Assurance practices and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Ability to properly use required personal protective equipment, including eye protection, safety footwear, hearing protection, respirators, electrical personal protective equipment, and chemical personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and work on concrete surfaces for the duration of assigned shifts.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, lifting, and climbing.
  • Ability to use hands for fine manipulation, gripping, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Work in accordance with all company safety and food safety policies and procedures.
  • Report physical safety concerns and issues to the Facilities Manager and Environmental, Health, and Safety Coordinator.
  • Report food safety concerns and issues to the Facilities Manager and Quality Assurance department.
  • Execute the preventive maintenance program according to schedule for all facility systems and equipment.
  • Conduct diagnostic checks, troubleshoot, and repair facility systems, including electrical, fire, security, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, water treatment, compressed air, and refrigeration systems, including ammonia refrigeration.
  • Perform general building and grounds maintenance.
  • Monitor facility systems by tracking operational readings and respond to alerts and deviations from standard operating conditions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, inspection checklists, regulatory documents, and hot work permits.
  • Document all work activities in computerized maintenance management system software.
Desired Qualifications
  • Electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, plumbing, refrigeration, or ammonia certifications are highly preferred.
  • Trade school or technical college completion is preferred.
  • Two to three years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in the food, medical, or pharmaceutical industries.
