Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Previous experience rebuilding, repairing, and retrofitting circuit breakers is required.
  • Experience with 480V to 15KV circuit breakers is desired.
  • PEARL breaker certification is desirable.
  • Testing skills and an understanding of fundamental electrical and mechanical testing procedures are preferred.
  • Experience at an original equipment manufacturer breaker manufacturer is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical skills, including experience with industrial mechanical engines, pneumatics, hydraulics, or diesel equipment, are beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of power systems, power circuit breakers, and other switchgear apparatus is desirable.
  • Experience using Megger, digital multimeter, Hi-Pot tester, oil dielectric strength tester, multiamps relay tester, primary and secondary injection set, cable fault detector, and oscilloscope is desirable.
  • Experience reading and interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams is preferred.
  • Must pass a pre-employment hair follicle drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.
  • Must pass an acceptable pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Must be physically fit to crawl, climb, stand, walk, and lift up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must pass a fit-for-duty physical examination.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, including occasional weekends, holidays, and nights.
  • Must not currently or in the future require sponsorship to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Must be willing to travel approximately 20% of the time.
Responsibilities
  • Work on low- and medium-voltage circuit breakers, including GE, Westinghouse, Powell, ABB, and ITE equipment.
  • Occasionally travel overnight to job sites for on-site breaker testing and repair.
  • Troubleshoot, rebuild, retrofit, test, and repair low-, medium-, and high-voltage switchgear.
  • Teardown and assemble breakers, contactors, related switchgear, and electrical apparatus.
  • Work with high-voltage switchgear up to 3000A, SF6 vacuum circuit breaker ATS equipment at 13.8kV and 11kV, and associated 60Hz and 50Hz systems.
  • Work with medium-voltage switchgear up to 3100A, vacuum circuit breaker ATS equipment at 15.5kV and 4.16kV, and associated 60Hz and 50Hz systems.
  • Work with low-voltage switchgear up to 3000A, air circuit breaker ATS equipment at 480V and 400V, and associated 60Hz and 50Hz systems.
