Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • A valid crop insurance license is required, or the ability to obtain one within three months of hire.
  • Entry-level experience in insurance or an agriculture-related field is preferred.
  • High accuracy, attention to detail, organizational skills, and time-management skills are required.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively with other teams is required.
  • Strong client-service and interpersonal skills with internal and external clients are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, OnBase, Approved Insurance Provider systems, and other systems needed to meet client and organizational needs is required.
  • Basic agricultural knowledge is required.
  • General knowledge of crop insurance programs and information is required.
  • Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate at all organizational levels, are required.
  • The ability to meet strict, non-negotiable deadlines is required.
  • The candidate must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional client service and support crop insurance sales.
  • Maintain a portfolio of smaller clients and ensure prompt and efficient servicing of their crop insurance policies.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain relationships with internal clients, external clients, and third parties while serving as a liaison between the organization and these stakeholders.
  • Service and support an existing crop insurance portfolio through office, phone, and digital channels.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned clients, address inquiries, resolve issues, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of coverage and product information with clients throughout the year.
  • Complete crop insurance documentation, including applications, production reports, acreage reporting, and claims.
  • Facilitate client insurance claims by collaborating with the insurance sales team, adjusters, clients, and insurance companies.
  • Collaborate with Insurance Operations and Insurance Sales team members to meet client needs.
  • Answer client and Crop Insurance Sales Team questions about policies by phone, email, and text.
  • Collaborate with Insurance Operations, Approved Insurance Provider underwriters, and Insurance Officers to deliver services and address concerns.
  • Assist the Crop Insurance Sales Team with internal processes, procedures, and projects.
  • Prepare and deliver applications, acreage reports, and production reports for the sales team to support business growth and client meetings.
  • Review sales-team documents for accuracy and quality control and ensure compliance with Risk Management Agency, Approved Insurance Provider, and Compeer requirements.
  • Prepare insurance documents and complete client mailings.
  • Prepare and provide Power BI reports to help the sales team meet deadlines.
  • Scan completed crop insurance documents into the document management system.
  • Use ServiceNow to facilitate Crop Insurance Sales Team and Approved Insurance Provider questions.
  • Assist with planning and executing sales events.
  • Provide additional support across Related Services Operations as needed.
  • Enter applications, endorsements, acreage reports, production reports, and claims accurately into Approved Insurance Provider systems before deadlines.
  • Prepare pre-keyed source documents for sales-team and client approval and create resulting documents for review before client distribution.
  • Enter data into Salesforce and submit claims to the Approved Insurance Provider system as needed.
  • Manage document indexing in OnBase.
  • Assist with seasonal Approved Insurance Provider reporting cleanup and data-entry completion.
  • Retain existing crop insurance clients and identify opportunities to cross-sell insurance products and services aligned with clients’ risk-management needs.
  • Facilitate sales appointments to enroll new crop insurance clients with similar size and service needs as the existing portfolio.
  • Prepare quotes for client and prospect appointments.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate’s Degree in business administration, finance, economics, agriculture, or another related field is preferred.
  • Entry-level experience in insurance or an agriculture-related field is preferred.

So should insurers and agricultural lenders offer farmers that look after their soil a ‘good soil discount’?.
