Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or four years of relevant experience such as project management, project coordination, project leadership, or systems analysis.
  • Internal employees must meet all mandatory competencies in their current position to qualify for promotion within Information Technology.

Responsibilities
  • Lead project teams on organization-wide, mid-to-low-risk projects affecting multiple people within a limited number of areas or departments.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all aspects of Information Technology projects, including work-plan development and management, reporting, issue tracking, scope management, cost management, resource and time management, communications, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology, vendors, and customers to ensure successful project completion.
  • Serve as a liaison between Information Technology and affiliated health-system practices by facilitating communication, resolving client requests, and overseeing issue resolution.
  • Review project proposals to determine goals, time frames, funding, project approach, staffing requirements, deliverables, and resource allocation.
  • Create and maintain project work plans using standard project-management software and maintain them for project-progress tracking.
  • Develop and maintain project scope documents, charters, and schedules.
  • Manage the generation, collection, dissemination, storage, and disposition of project information.
  • Facilitate the transition of project support to Customer Service at project completion.
  • Identify and manage project risks and issues, escalate appropriately, and maintain issue and risk logs.
  • Implement and monitor change-control processes and document and facilitate their outcomes.
  • Communicate project status, issues, and successes to project teams, management, and stakeholders in accordance with project standards.
  • Conduct routine project meetings, provide project guidance and direction, and motivate project teams to action.
  • Manage internal resources assigned to projects and external resources when a vendor project manager is unavailable.
  • Schedule project activities and team-member work, oversee consultants and contractors, and manage vendor resources and invoicing.
  • Identify project-related problems, engage appropriate resources, evaluate alternatives, and facilitate systematic solutions.
  • Establish cooperative working relationships with customers and project staff, resolve conflicts, and activate escalation protocols.
  • Prioritize team work, set realistic deadlines, forecast changes, communicate issues, and analyze decision risks and future impacts.
  • Influence stakeholders and use win-win negotiation techniques to keep projects on course.
  • Use project-planning and oversight tools such as Windows, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Assist and mentor coworkers and participate in mentoring, training, and employee development.
  • Create and update internal documentation for team members and provide coaching and support.
  • Travel to other facilities or affiliated sites for implementations, training, and support as needed.
  • Follow the established policies of the West Virginia United Health System and assigned employing entities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Associate in Project Management certification.
  • One year of hospital or hospital Information Technology experience.
