Requirements
  • Two years of nursing experience as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse within the last five years, aligned with the applicable education option.
  • Six years of combined Licensed Vocational Nurse and Registered Nurse experience, or six years of either, aligned with the applicable education option.
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited school recognized by the Department of Education, completion of teaching coursework, a California teaching certificate with teaching coursework, or at least one year of full-time teaching experience in a state-accredited or approved nursing school within the last five years.
  • Alternatively, meeting California community college or state university educational minimums for Associate Degree in Nursing teaching requirements.
  • A current active California license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse.
  • A current cardiopulmonary resuscitation card.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver class and/or clinical instruction according to an approved curriculum using accepted and effective teaching methods.
  • Supervise students while they work with patients or in the clinical setting, assessing their ability to apply classroom knowledge, master necessary skills, communicate effectively, and plan patient care.
  • Develop daily lesson plans; advise, remediate, and tutor students; maintain current and accurate attendance and grade records; and remain current in the applicable teaching field.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional growth activities in the respective field, and two in-service training sessions annually.
  • Participate in college activities such as in-services, faculty meetings, student functions, graduation exercises, open houses, new student orientations, and advisory board meetings.
  • Provide quality instruction that supports students’ academic achievement, fulfillment of program requirements, retention, and preparation for entry-level healthcare positions.
