Applications Engineer

PURPOSE:
Support the Sales Support, Engineering, and Outside Sales teams with designs, drawings/layouts,and calculations. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other dutiesmay be assigned.

Provide drawings and layouts forDuctSoxproducts asrequired.

Provide sales support for field salespeople and regional sales managers.

Provide design input to sales and engineering staff.

Interface with internal contacts such as Sales Support,manufacturingandpurchasingteam members.

Design new or revise existing jobs and projects using design and engineering guidelines.

Assist Sales Support team with order entry needs.

Develop 3D solidsofDuctSoxandbuildingcomponents for Computation Fluid Dynamic (CFD).

Create CAD drawings for concepts,proto typing,testingand final product design documentation.

Maintain consistent organization and maintenance of any project information (e.g.drawing files, correspondence, etc.).

Identifyprojects requiring special engineering or new product development.

This position requires participation ininterdepartmentalmeetings tohelpsupport corporate goals.

Be able to read and understand plans and/orspecifications, andprovide drawings to meet project requirements.

Develop and enhance processes to provide continuous improvement to engineering and product improvement.

Interface with external contacts such as HVAC engineers,architectsandDuctSoxReps.

Answer questions from representatives and customers in the support ofDuctSoxproducts

Suggest or select materials,componentsand/or tolerances asappropriate toensure product performance meets application needs.

Understandpricingstructure of products to provide solution(s) to meet the budget and application requirements of the project.

The incumbent acts as a resource for information and adviceregardingspecial applications.

This positionis responsible forgenerating Bills of Material and Drawings as necessary to support procurement and manufacturing.

Be available to attend jobsite visits to review application needs. Possible overnight travel.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Support sales efforts by supplyingtimely,accuratetechnical applicationassistance.

Develop,implementand document policies andprocedurenecessary to maximize applications efficiency.

Help reduce cost and improve Engineering/Manufacturing lead times by accurately compiling special product application information and providingaccuratelist prices, based on approved formulas for those special product requests.

ReduceCorporateliability by specifying proper equipment and installation requirements for allproducts.

Promote positive customer and representative relationships throughtimely,accurateandappropriate applicationassistance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in mechanical engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience asdemonstratedby PE certification.Working knowledge in strength ofmaterials and statistics calculations, basic understanding of fabrication and provenproblem solvingskills required. Previousmechanical design experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability towritereports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and thegeneral public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to work with mathematical concepts of algebra, geometry, trigonometry,calculusand statistics.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructionsfurnishedin written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employeeis regularly required totalk or hear. The employeefrequentlyis required tostand; walk; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employeeis occasionally required toreach withhands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee mustfrequentlylift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts,fumesor airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
