- Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, are required.
- A high value must be placed on safety, quality of work, and operational procedures.
- Basic knowledge of geographic information system (GIS) systems and principles is required.
- Drug and alcohol testing is required.
- Perform visual inspections of water services for leaks.
- Identify hazards at meter sites and report them accordingly.
- Change out water meters of varying sizes and brands.
- Change out water meter registers for advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) or automated meter reading (AMR) upgrades.
- Read water meters.
- Enter data collected in the field into a handheld computer.
- Assist with additional projects as necessary.
- Refer consumer complaints to the appropriate authorities.
- Provide general information about meter services to customers when applicable.
- Use telephones, tablets, and computers to communicate.
- Work outdoors and walk long distances in varying weather conditions.
- Begin each day at the local office to pick up the company vehicle, equipment, and assignments.
- A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) credential is preferred.
- One or more years of experience directly exchanging water meters and registers of varying sizes is preferred.
- One year of continuous work with the same employer and/or six or more months of work experience is preferred.
ACRT Services is an employee-owned utility services organization specializing in independent vegetation management. Its teams help electric utilities, cooperatives and other infrastructure operators inspect rights-of-way, plan tree work, assess risk and manage storm response. Capabilities also include consulting forestry, arborist training, safety services, environmental research and workflow software. Because ACRT does not perform tree trimming itself, it positions its field assessments and recommendations as independent support for safe, reliable utility operations and environmental stewardship.
