Requirements
  • 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping production-quality full-stack features.
  • Experience with observability systems, statistical analysis pipelines, and event-based metrics infrastructure.
  • Strong architectural understanding of data platforms, backend services, and cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Experience leading 0-to-1 product development, taking ambiguous problem spaces from exploration through proof of concept to validated direction.
  • Deep familiarity with the observability ecosystem (application performance monitoring, distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry, error tracking) and an informed perspective on where it's heading.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal direction, comfortable defining what to build, not just how to build it.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
  • Prototyping and 0-to-1 innovation: lead the exploration and prototyping of new product concepts at the intersection of feature flags and observability, from integrations to new implementations, operating with high autonomy to identify opportunities, rapidly validate ideas through proofs of concepts, and define the technical direction for net-new product areas that expand Guardian's value.
  • Observability domain expertise and thought leadership: bring deep domain expertise in observability systems and apply it to reimagine how engineering teams understand the real-time impact of software changes, serving as the team's resident expert on the evolving observability landscape and translating industry trends and customer pain points into concrete product prototypes that differentiate Guardian in the market.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners: work with product, design, data science, and engineering to architect and advance observability products, leveraging broad experience to facilitate strategic discussions that align technical solutions with business goals and ensure delivery of scalable and effective features.
  • Stay at the forefront of development trends, observability, and data-driven product evolution: bring deep expertise to suggest and implement forward-thinking improvements in tools, processes, and methodologies, and engage in continuous learning and improvement to keep the team competitive and cutting-edge.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for product and user experience improvements: leverage data insights and feedback to propose innovative, well-reasoned solutions, lead the implementation of these enhancements, balance user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility, and ensure each change drives meaningful improvements in engagement and performance.

LaunchDarkly provides a feature management platform for developers in the DevOps space. It helps teams control and automate features in their software so they can ship code safely, run experiments themselves, deliver personalized experiences, and revert feature behavior without changing code. The platform typically runs as a subscription service that integrates into development workflows to reduce risk, speed up releases, and maximize the impact of each software feature. Its differentiation comes from a developer-first approach that emphasizes in-production feature flags, self-serve experimentation, and targeting options to improve reliability and productivity. Overall, LaunchDarkly aims to help customers innovate faster, automate and de-risk software releases, lower delivery costs, and boost the business impact of features.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Snowflake Native App distribution keeps experiment data inside customer accounts.[1]
  • Warehouse-native experimentation reduces analytics friction for Snowflake-standardized enterprise teams.[1]
  • Guarded releases and runtime control align with AI agents and AI SDLC workflows.[4]

What critics are saying

  • Cloud incumbents bundle feature management into broader contracts and undercut standalone pricing.
  • AI-agent runtime control is crowded; hyperscalers can copy guardrails and win distribution.
  • Observability and analytics acquisitions create product sprawl and margin pressure if adoption slows.

What makes LaunchDarkly unique

  • Feature management decouples deploys from releases using runtime flag evaluation.[2][5]
  • AgentControl extends LaunchDarkly into AI-agent runtime governance with sub-200-millisecond propagation.[4]
  • Highlight adds observability, while Houseware adds warehouse-native product analytics.[4]
