Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis.
  • Professional Engineer in the state of Washington
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive design experience for a diverse portfolio of facilities projects within the government, civic, educational, corporate, transit, and/or light industrial sectors.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit; Proficiency with RISA 3D or Ram Structural System.
  • Strong working knowledge of steel, cast-in-place concrete, masonry, and precast concrete design.
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems, construction methods / practices, the preparation and assembly of construction documentation, and interpretation of construction plans.
  • Extensive experience working in a team environment and coordinating structural designs with multi-discipline teams.
  • Previous experience conducting condition assessments of existing structures and construction inspection / observation activities.
  • Strong, effective verbal and written communication skills with project team members.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% for team meetings, client consultations, facility / site inspections, construction observations, etc.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed drawings using AutoCAD and Revit for various facilities throughout the Pacific Northwest.
  • Engage in the full production life cycle of projects, including design calculations, plan sets, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Engage with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and project delivery.
  • Assist with structural system layout and multi-discipline coordination.
  • Conduct clash detection reviews to identify and resolve conflicts in design.
  • Perform occasional field verifications of existing facilities to ensure accuracy of designs.
  • Develop and enhance project management skills by planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of structural-only and multi-discipline projects.
  • Oversee projects from conceptual design through construction administration.
  • Work alongside Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Structural) and Architecture professionals to ensure cohesive project delivery.
  • Coordinate with team members to achieve project goals and meet client expectations.
  • Ensure all designs and projects comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and best practices.
