About The Team
The Consumer Products team is a part of the 360 experience Crunchyroll provides to its fans. We focus on extending the anime brands Crunchyroll represents into physical and digital products, experiences that surprises and delight our fans.
Our dynamic team leads all aspects of sales, design, product development, account management, contract management, and compliance in coordination with other Crunchyroll teams. About the Manager, Licensing:
The Manager, Licensing is responsible for developing and managing domestic and international merchandise licensing programs with a focus on sales, marketing and administration. As Manager, you will effectively communicate select franchise licensing strategy to licensees, retailers, and other partners and ensure all activity and brand representation increases revenue and the franchise’s DNA.
Your contribution to the team will affect our goals of driving revenue, engaging fans, extending and protecting our brands, and being the partner of choice for IP owners in Japan. The success
About You:
You have a strong licensing and business development background in consumer products with a proven track record of success in generating and growing revenue and providing long-term value.
- 5+ years of experience in entertainment related consumer products. Experience reviewing and optimizing license commercial terms.
- A tried problem solver with a good understanding of consumer markets and with an emphasis in entertainment business.
- You are an effective networker who is constantly growing your network of contacts!
- Great teammate who can comfortably build cross functional relationships.
You are motivated and pro-active in your approach. You have an entrepreneurial attitude, yet you are comfortable working within a structured environment.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to sell ideas internally. With an ability to create, build and present key business presentations including business reviews, franchise strategy plans, pitch decks.
You have an appreciation for anime and its fandom and an understanding of Japanese business culture! Japanese language proficiency is a huge plus!
A day in the life of our Manager, Licensing:
- Driving the Business/Sales – develop a strategic merchandise licensing program targeting multiple demographics, including identifying and assessing new licensing product opportunities and partners, anticipating roadblocks and proactively taking measures to address them. Negotiate and review business terms and contracts. Develop and execute licensing strategies and plans (target industries, categories, products and licensees) for multiple categories and multiple properties and actively manage key licensees to deliver results.
- Financial Planning - forecast and finalize quarterly and annual budgeting, financial planning & development and implementation of strategic licensing plans to hit revenue targets, grow the licensing business & incremental revenue potential on assigned brands/IPs.
- Reporting - Ensure that monthly and quarterly reports are received from licensees and that all requested information is being provided. Assist the Accounting & Finance team with the compilation of data for internal reporting, including sell-thru, placement, and royalty revenue. Ability to create reports for business analysis and business review/strategy presentations.
- Insuring Partner Compliance - Liaise with content partners and internal teams to approve product design, production, and promotion for products under license. Monitor existing partners to ensure active development, product innovation, marketing dates, revenue targets, and overall contract compliance. Own key licensor relationships related to day-to-day business and activity.
- Collaborating with Legal - responsible for licensing contracts and accurate accounting of revenue with Legal and Finance teams.
- Plan Events and Trade Shows – participate and assist with the planning and attendance of annual Licensing Summits, Licensing Show, Toy Fair and other trade shows and events as necessary. Ensure visibility of our licensed products during trade shows and Crunchyroll events.
