Requirements
  • At least 5 years of post-graduate semiconductor or related industry experience.
  • A Master of Science or PhD in electrical engineering, materials science, or a related field.
  • A proven track record of driving complex fabrication process development and integration, particularly in small- to medium-batch production.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing fabrication equipment.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following: through-silicon vias, indium bump bonding and packaging, or electron-beam lithography.
Responsibilities
  • Drive the integration of D-Wave’s integrated quantum processing unit fabrication process from development to production.
  • Use JMP and Siemens Opcenter X to track process-integration progress and success and identify roadblocks.
  • Design and execute experiments to improve device quality and process fidelity, and communicate results to the fabrication team and other stakeholders.
  • Operate metal deposition systems, electron-beam and optical lithography tools, and wet and dry etch systems in D-Wave and Yale clean room facilities.
  • Perform routine maintenance of tools and facilities in the D-Wave lab and qualify new fabrication tools as needed.
  • Design in situ metrology regimes to track production and tool health at all steps through statistical process control.
  • Mentor and train junior process engineers and technicians.
  • Present plans and results to executives and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in the design, construction, and qualification of the new D-Wave New Haven clean room facility, including space planning, tool selection, facilities planning, and qualification of new tools and processes.

D-Wave secures $219,000 from Canada's NRC to develop quantum computing software for complex optimisation problems

D-Wave Quantum has received up to C$300,000 in funding from Canada's National Research Council through its Applied Quantum Computing Challenge programme. The company will use the funds to develop advanced software and algorithms for its Advantage2 annealing quantum computers. Working from its Quantum Centre of Engineering Excellence in Burnaby, British Columbia, D-Wave will create new graph minor-embedding algorithms for its Zephyr topology. These will be integrated into the company's open-source Ocean software development kit. The new algorithms are expected to enable organisations to solve larger, more complex optimisation problems across applications including logistics, manufacturing, scheduling, resource allocation, machine learning, and materials simulation. The project aims to expand the capabilities of D-Wave's dual-platform quantum computing systems, which offer both annealing and gate-model technologies.
