Systems Administrator

HOW A SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

• Maintains FAVES organization's computer systems' workflows and is responsible for the upkeep, configuration and reliable operation of computer systems, including fixing network issues along with updating equipment and software.
• Creates and administers profiles and accounts and maintains systems documentation. 
• Tunes system performance for optimal conditions. Installs system-wide software.
• Duties:
• Administers and maintains voice, video, and/or data communications systems with focus on *nix operating systems.
• Manages the usage and performance of voice, video and/or data communications systems.
• Maintains system security and ensures compliance with security policies and procedures.
• Maintains *nix specific automation mechanisms for control and provisioning of administered systems.
• Independently provides technical interpretation and solutions in the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures.
• Troubleshoots system hardware and software specific issues.
• Trains end users on the proper use of hardware and software.
• Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
• Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
• Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions.
• Independently ensures data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
• Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
• Ensures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users.
• Applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.
• May evaluate existing systems and assist with planning long-term strategies.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
● Education: Associates degree preferred or higher level degree

CompTia Linux+ (Posses or obtain in 6 months)

● Required Experience: 2+ years of related experience

● Security Clearance Level: Agency specific Public Trust
● Required Skills and Abilities: FAA systems familiarization (Voice/Video)
● Location: On-site GDIT facility

The likely salary range for this position is $56,680 - $75,325. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
