Requirements
  • A master's degree in a relevant field is required.
  • A valid State of Florida Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is required.
  • Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification from the American Heart Association are required.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.
  • Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Ability to use office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Perform pre- and post-anesthesia patient visits and document anesthesia notes in patient records.
  • Review medical histories, evaluate patients, and determine appropriate methods of anesthesia.
  • Perform or evaluate diagnostic tests such as radiographs and electrocardiograms.
  • Measure and monitor the level and speed at which anesthesia is administered.
  • Monitor patient vital signs, including skin color, pupil dilation, pulse, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, ventilation, and urine output.
  • Inform physicians of patients' conditions during anesthesia.
  • Manage patients' airway or pulmonary status using techniques such as endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, respiratory therapy, and extubation.
  • Oversee patient recovery from anesthesia and provide immediate postoperative care.
  • Prepare prescribed solutions and administer local, intravenous, spinal, or other anesthetics according to specified methods and procedures.
  • Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering fluids or drugs, and using basic or advanced life-support techniques.
  • Develop anesthesia care plans.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
