Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • One year of IV compounding experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • A pharmacy technician certificate or license is required where mandated by state law.
  • Current CPR certification is required if involved with direct patient care.
  • Knowledge of medications and physician orders is required.
  • Completion of pre-employment and/or random drug screening is required.
  • Completion of the HIPAA Privacy, HIPAA Security, Fraud, Waste, and Abuse, and MethGuard training courses and associated CE mastery exams is required.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as required.
  • Must be available and on time for scheduled work shifts.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the pharmacist in complying with federal, state, and local laws, accrediting body standards, and policies and procedures.
  • Perform IV admixture sterility testing and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Assist pharmacists with preparing and labeling medications as permitted by law.
  • Prepare sterile parenterals using appropriate aseptic technique and obtain required pharmacist checks.
  • Assemble drugs and supplies by matching codes and quantities from the compounding document.
  • Label products correctly.
  • Check final products for particulate matter and container integrity.
  • Match compounded products to the correct delivery before shipping.
  • Conduct quality control and sterility testing.
  • Assist the pharmacist in maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
  • Order, receive, and store medications and supplies.
  • Perform physical inventories according to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain pharmacy records, including filing and documenting required dispensing-record information.
  • Maintain and track durable medical equipment and other equipment, including cleaning and calibration.
  • Clean work areas routinely in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Communicate appropriately with members of the healthcare team.
  • Document activities using required paperwork and logs in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in performance improvement, quality assurance activities, education programs, and department or branch meetings.
  • Serve as a process owner when assigned.
  • Complete all mandatory and regulatory training programs.
  • Assist in orienting and training employees when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
