Vetcove operates a centralized procurement platform for veterinary practices. It aggregates products from multiple veterinary distributors into a single online marketplace, letting clinics compare prices and product availability, place orders, and manage purchases with features such as order history, cart management, and analytics. The platform earns commissions on sales processed through the site, aligning Vetcove’s revenue with helping customers find good deals and streamline buying. Unlike platforms that limit suppliers to a single source, Vetcove consolidates many distributors in one place to save time and increase buying transparency for veterinary clinics, hospitals, and corporate groups. The goal is to simplify and speed up the procurement of veterinary supplies and medications while providing insights to support smarter purchasing decisions.

What believers are saying

  • AVMA Direct Connect in 2026 expands distribution through the industry's biggest association.
  • Vetcove still shows active hiring in August 2026, signaling ongoing product and sales investment.
  • Embark's integration adds adjacent diagnostic revenue and deepens clinician workflow stickiness.

What critics are saying

  • Chewy's lawsuit against Vetcove and Covetrus targets prescription diversion and deceptive routing.
  • Vetcove depends on distributor cooperation; one major supplier pullout would cripple marketplace liquidity.
  • Covetrus and Chewy can outspend Vetcove, compress margins, and control prescription economics.

What makes Vetcove unique

  • Vetcove centralizes veterinary procurement across vendors, with AVMA Direct Connect launched in 2026.
  • AAEP still endorses Vetcove for equine practices, reinforcing niche specialty distribution.
  • Vetcove integrates prescription workflows, not just catalogs, tying purchasing into clinic operations.
