Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of heavy equipment experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and email.
  • Ability to perform high-quality repairs efficiently and maintain a clean working environment while working in the field.
  • Ability to work independently and use available resources for information when written documentation is unavailable.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and follow directions.
  • Effective communication skills when representing the company to customers and office personnel.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to write technical reports.
  • Intermediate keyboarding skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software, preferably Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to work Saturdays and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to walk, bend, and lift up to 100 pounds on a continuous basis and operate or move equipment when needed.
Responsibilities
  • Complete service reports, inspection checklists, and timecards within department guidelines.
  • Complete paperwork before moving to the next job and communicate additional time needed to the dispatcher.
  • Use SIS, ET, parts manuals, and service manuals.
  • Segment jobs properly and order parts accordingly.
  • Return unneeded parts immediately after job completion, complete warranty documentation, and submit follow-up forms promptly.
  • Communicate job status effectively to customers and office personnel.
  • Perform in-depth electrical, hydraulic, and powertrain troubleshooting using prescribed tools, guidelines, and documentation.
  • Maintain company-supplied tooling and equipment, including personal tooling.
  • Arrange special parts when necessary to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Perform mechanical work related to department operations.
  • Keep current with industry standards.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction, professional presentation, effective communication, and ownership of assigned jobs.
  • Use safe working practices.
  • Keep redo or excessive labor below 2% of total labor hours and prevent equipment damage caused by neglect or abuse.
  • Work primarily in a construction equipment shop and in the field or at jobsites as needed.
  • Operate or move equipment to determine required maintenance.
  • Complete office tasks such as answering the telephone and using a keyboard for written communication.
