Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and 10 years of fundraising experience are required.
  • Experience in individual major gift fundraising in a medical setting is preferred.
  • Experience cultivating and soliciting prospects capable of gifts of $100,000 or more is preferred.
  • Experience managing frontline fundraising staff is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects using a collaborative, donor-centric approach.
  • Create engagement and solicitation strategies for potential donors capable of contributing gifts of $100,000 or more, including pipeline development focused on residency and fellowship alumni, friends, unaffiliated prospects, and grateful patients and family members.
  • Maintain regular contact with prospects and donors through personal visits, virtual meetings, phone calls, emails, and written correspondence.
  • Build long-term relationships based on trust while identifying opportunities to deepen engagement and philanthropic investment.
  • Solicit, close, and oversee stewardship of philanthropic gifts to URochester Medicine.
  • Serve as the primary Advancement liaison for engagement and fundraising support for one or more departments, priority fundraising areas, or programs.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive engagement and fundraising plans to support clinical and research work in consultation with assigned department and program staff.
  • Evaluate engagement and fundraising plans annually with the Assistant Vice President, Clinical, Research & Hospital Programs Advancement.
  • Work with URochester Medicine and University Advancement leadership to identify fundraising priorities and develop compelling cases for support.
  • Manage two major gift officers who carry their own portfolios.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to maximize productivity, and regularly monitor and evaluate performance.
  • Execute other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President, Clinical, Research & Hospital Programs Advancement.
Desired Qualifications
  • Broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising.
  • The ability to effectively manage interactions with executives, physicians, faculty, volunteer leaders, and philanthropy staff members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation of quantitative and qualitative information to diverse audiences of advancement and medical professionals.
  • A flexible approach to new and changing initiatives surrounding patient and family giving.
  • Experience and aptitude for analytical thinking.
  • A customer-service orientation.
