Requirements
  • High school education or GED.
  • Own reliable transportation, a good driving record, and car insurance.
  • Completed and passed a two-step Tuberculosis skin test.
  • State radiation license or certificate.
  • Good computer skills and medical terminology experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and listen to the needs of patients and doctors.
  • Ability to perform the required physical duties, including standing, walking, pushing, stooping, lifting 50 pounds or more, pushing patients in a wheelchair, and working under stressful conditions or irregular hours.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the doctor with patient care in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Review, verify, and maintain current and accurate clinical records, charts, and medical history through electronic medical records.
  • Assure the integrity of all documentation.
  • Update the patient odontogram for every patient encounter.
  • Pass instruments and supplies to the dentist for the appropriate care being rendered.
  • Maintain the treatment area through evacuation, washing, isolating, drying, and illuminating as appropriate.
  • Provide daily feedback and work with the branch office to optimize the dental schedule and reporting.
  • Manage patient flow during facility visits and push wheelchairs when necessary.
  • Balance and generate daily production reports and provide them to the dentist upon departure.
  • Post dental charges to the appropriate provider in a timely manner.
  • Care for and clean medical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and report them to the appropriate resources.
  • Maintain and schedule planned maintenance for dental equipment.
  • Clean up the service area used at the facility.
  • Inspect and maintain the vehicle's exterior and interior appearance and perform basic support tasks such as routine oil changes, refueling, and changing brake lights.
  • Maintain dental supplies inventory by auditing stock, anticipating needed supplies, and placing and expediting supply orders.
  • Manage resources by preparing supplies with minimum waste or duplication.
  • Ensure that dental equipment is working properly by completing preventive maintenance requirements and following manufacturer instructions.
  • Assist the dentist's diagnosis by exposing and processing digital dental radiographs.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.
  • Provide customer service and help ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Follow OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Communicate with patients, family members, providers, faculty, and staff.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and document conversations in the electronic medical record.
  • Travel up to 100% of the time and service a 2.5-hour radius.
  • Support and comply with the compliance program, including completing training and reporting suspected violations of law or company policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and protected health information guidelines.
Desired Qualifications
  • Medical or Dental Assistant experience is preferred.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination is preferred.
