Amentum is currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) Engineer in the Army’s Product Manager XM30, Program Executive Office (PEO) Ground Combat Systems (GCS) office. This position is currently hybrid, typically with 1-2 days weekly in the office at the Detroit Arsenal. This arrangement could change based on the requirements of the government client. Other duties may be assigned to support client and contract deliverables. This position is not yet funded, position contingent upon funding award.
Responsible for the development of program’s Reliability strategy, approach, process, schedule, and resource requirements. In addition, managing the implementation of an evaluation methodology and framework for product/system under test.
Ability to work in a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment with product managers, logistics, contracting, along with multiple external Government organizations to include Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC), the User Representative, and other Product Offices along with the defense industry.
Responsible for the day-to-day management of reliability activities including managing contractor’s Reliability activities and evaluating Reliability contract deliverables
Tracks and scores Reliability data throughout test and participates in Reliability scoring and assessment conferences, evaluates field data as part of the FRACAS process and works with stakeholders to make fielded system improvements, and supports other Reliability related tasks for internal and external GVSC customers as necessary.
Must have strong writing skills to generate performance specification language within acquisition contracts, Reliability language within RFPs, reliability test scoring reports, schedules, and to assist in generating technical documentation in support of Milestone Decisions and Material Release.
Have a working knowledge of program management (program planning, execution, risk management, configuration management, metrics, earned value systems, issue resolution).
Travel occasionally (up to 25%) to the test sites in support of related meetings and program events
Provide technical advice and knowledge of program, system engineering and value management technologies with a logistics focus.
Review and analyze system performance against requirements for the application and integration of improved designs into the system.
Develop and present data for reviews to provide timely and accurate reporting and program status to internal/external elements.
Manage test cost, schedule, scope and risk throughout the program lifecycle.
Integrate program management processes.
This position may require up to 25% travel based on client requirements.
Other deliverables based on contract requirements.
Minimum of 5-8 years Industry Experience as a Reliability Engineer, Design Engineer, Development Engineer, or Test Engineer.
B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or other engineering discipline.
Experience with Design for Reliability and Reliability Growth.
Experience working on Advanced Hardware Systems.
Experience with Prediction Modeling, FMEA/FMECA, and Risk Management.
Demonstrated program management skills.
Demonstrated resource management skills.
Demonstrated communication skills (oral & written).
Knowledge and experience with systems engineering processed.
Demonstrated ability to apply Reliability and T&E best practices.
Demonstrated ability in developing and reporting programmatic (Cost, Schedule, Performance of T&E Programs).
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Detailed-oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
Clearance: Not required for initial hire. Amentum will sponsor a SECRET security clearance, a positive adjudication/determination may be required for continued employment. Please note US Citizenship is required to obtain Secret Government Clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Systems Engineering or other engineering discipline and 10+ years of experience with military or government related duties.
Master’s Degree in engineering with 5+ years of RAMS experience or equivalent industry experience.
Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and logistics in a highly regulated industry.
Experience with reliability modeling, six sigma and predictive logistics.
Experience or familiarity with Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS).
Experience setting up the Reliability Engineering initial framework for a product.
Demonstrated problem solving skill with emphasis on analysis, COA level decision presentation.
Background in statistics, testing, and critical thinking focused on risk reduction.
Familiarity with the US DoD ground vehicle requirements.
Program Management (PM) awareness.
Knowledge of the PEO/PM structure and organizations.
Knowledge of the Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) structure and organization, with emphasis on the Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC).
Previous DOD experience in acquisitions or acquisitions strategy.
Previous experience working in TACOM, PEO CS&CSS, GVSC or PEO Ground Combat Systems (GCS).
