Waymark has published peer-reviewed research in Nature's npj Digital Public Health showing its Signal for Maternity Risks technology predicts adverse pregnancy outcomes for Medicaid patients with 89% accuracy, identifying high-risk pregnancies 55 days earlier than traditional methods. The study analysed data from 190,698 Medicaid-enrolled pregnant women across 26 states and Washington DC. By combining clinical data with social determinants of health, including healthcare workforce availability and distance to obstetric care, the model achieved 89.4% accuracy in predicting complications such as preterm birth and severe maternal morbidity. Significantly, the technology eliminated algorithmic bias, achieving equivalent performance for Black and White patients. The early detection window allows care teams to deploy community-based support before complications develop, addressing a critical gap in Medicaid care where nearly half of all US births occur.
